Editing My Poster and Magazine

I really like my poser and think that it works quite well, however i felt the need to change my magazine cover a few times because it didnt stand out enough, i changed the text and made the picture bigger

After filming I was very disapointed with the quality of my shots, they didnt all upload correctly which resulted in me having a limited ammount of shots i can use. I was worried about editing because by the end of it my trailer wasn't very long. I did what i could with the shots i had by editing the shots to make them short and snappy so it would be very fast paced and hopefully gives a good impression of schizophrenia.

These are my final pieces my magazine cover (left) and the poster (right) i included the same picture (Jack behind the tree) in both of them but i darkened it for my magazine and used the burn tool on it. I enjoyed making these achillary task. I tried to capture the mood of darkness and schizophrenia.

Final Poster 2

This is my final poster, i decided to add more onto my original, I wanted to add more text and make it more "interesting" and eye catching.

I made this poster on photo shop, i had taken many pictures for my poster and liked these two, they are two pictures and i flipped the behind photo so they could be seen.

After looking at my original magazine cover i decided that a lot more was needed to do to make it stand out, here is my final magazine.

I tried to iclude phrases that would be used on a typical magazine, i based the magazine on my film and made it look interesting by making it dark, i shined the moon on my orinial picture and used the burn tool on photoshop to create shadow.

My Trailer

For my tailer I tried to represent Schizpohrenia by having the shots really short and it is quite jumpy, I put in text to seperate some clips it opens on "One Boy!" then has three really short clips then it says "Two minds" then includes more clips. I seperate the clips by including text because otherwise it would be really quick. I don't include much dialogue because i want to capture the idea of schizophrenia and have the viewers understand and want to watch it.

Poster and Mag

After looking at both my poster and my magazine I decided that my Magazine cover didnt look right, I need to work on the text on my magazine cover and my poster needs bit more work

This is my magazine cover, I wanted to base the Magazine on my film which is why i kept it dark with The image from my poster of Jack behind a tree. I put in a moon and did a spotlight effect coming from it to light up the tree. I used the "burn" tool to darken the rest of the tree and the other side of Jack.

By having one side of Jack light and the other dark i think represents the fact that he has two personalities.

Final Poster

This is my final poster, i decided to have my character (the schizophrenic) standing behind a tree and then behind him is his other personality obviously being different.

I think this symbolises schizophrenia.

I have included quotes from my trailer because I think that would be effective because after seeing the trailer the audience will imediately recognise the film.

Memento

Memento is a phsycological thriller film, the main character of the film is a man called leonard who part way through the film is diagnosed with short term memory loss and can't remember something that happend half an hour ago unless he takes photos and writes down what happens. His wife was assaulted which is when he got hit on the head which resulted in his memory loss because he tried to help her. Important things that he needs to remember he has a tattoo saying important facts.

A cop rings Lennie and tells him that he knows what he has done, Lennie is unaware that he killed a man and believes that his wife died in the assault. The Cop (Teddy) helps Lennie find the man that killed his wife resulting in Lennie killing him.

Teddy then explains that Lennnie has already killed the man he thought killed his wife and that he has just killed someone else.

Throughout the film Lennie makes references to a Man called Sammie who apparantly killed his own wife because she kept telling him to inject her with her insulin and because Sammie had memory loss he didnt realise he was giving her an overdose.

Later on in the film we find out that Sammie is made up and the story of him killing his wife is actually Lennies story.

Mrs Hammonds homework

In Mrs Hammonds lesson we watched two adverts one for "Ben Ten" and one for "I Love Ponies" we were asked to compare the two of them and show how each of them represent the genders.

Ben Ten: This advert is advertising something that will be watched by boys, we know this from the advert because of the colours used and it is also a male voice over. The colours used are alot of red and blue, these are colours mainly asociated with the male sex, there is a lot of sharp cuts and has music played over the top.



I love Ponies: i love ponies is an advert where the product is quite clearly directed at girls, there is a lot of glitter in the advert and also a lot of pink. Over the top the voice over is a woman who sounds like a Mum talking to their daughter. This will make young girls want this product more because of the way the woman sounds, she sounds nice and friendly which is what they will look for. The use of pink is very important in the advert and makes a lot of different.




Both of the adverts clearly show the difference in gender mainly by the use of colour and the gender of the person who delivers the voice over

Mrs Hammond Thursday period 3

We have been given a practical lesson in thursday period three which i am going to spend doing my filming, I am going to capture the schitzophrenic side of Jack first and my idea is to be in his living room whith him sitting on a chair staring at his friends who are all laughing and joking on his sofa.
I want him to seem scary and weird, i think it will be more eerie if he doesnt say anything and just says it all in his facial expressions

I took a lot of photos and i liked these three because it shows my character (Jack Gamble) alone, i asked him to pull some faces that makes him look angry. The picture of him pushing the swing i think is effective because it shows him obviously keeping himself amused and it looks like hes playing with someone.

I got Jack to play this character because of his facial expressions and his ability to play this character well

Over Half Term

During half termed i managed to be quite productive towards my media project, i did this by completing my final draft for both my magazine and my poster which i can now put on to my final piece, i am starting filming this wednesday

My Story Board for my trailer has been completed and includes camera angles and dialogue, i have a clear image in my head of what i want my trailer to look like and effects that i want to be included in my trailer.

Music

A main part of my trailer should be the music because it helps create an atmosphere.

There will be no lyrics to my music because it will take away the dialogue from my characters, it will be quiet music in the background but eerie music

As i plan to start filming next week i decided to watch a few more videos that could halp me with ideas for my trailer



Pulp fiction is'nt a horror film but the trailer is a good example of fast editing and short shots to keep the viewer interested

Plan for this week

There are a number of things i need to do this week, most of which are just completing what i've started such as my filming schedule and story board.

Over the past weekend i got together as many props as possible for my film trailer for when i start filming, i have also found a few bits of costume that could be used effectively.

I also started work on my story board including camera angles and effects

My actors have confirmed that they would like to take part in my media project and I have also drew out my story board including several camera angles which im going to put on here within the next couple of days

Target Audience

My target audiencer is going to be teenagers - young adults as they are the people who watch horrors more than others. The trailer will atract the teenage audience because it will show an eere film which is what a lot of teens want to see

Costume and Make up

All the costumes are going to be basic casual wear to show that it is an every day occurance and isn't a special event.

Jack will also look normal except when he becomes a different personality and becomes a murderer i think the perfect example for Jack to look alike at this point is Jonny Depp in Sweeny Todd

Lighting

i want the lighting to be dull to add to the eerie atmosphere especially when Jack is sitting talking to himself, i want that to be candle light because i think it will give it more of a strange feel and i think it could be really effective

I dont want there to be too little light that he filming doesnt go aswell as i planned though so it will take a lot of adjusting and may not be as dark as i waould hope

i think there is enough characters here, i dont want too many because it is only a three minutes so i dont have time to include a lot of characters. i want a clip with the detective to show that it will build up to a climax

Things to do in the next week

Before i get my filming underway there are several things i need to do;

talk to the people in my film makeing sure they are all still ok to do it and act for me

create a full story board in detail including all my camera angles and music

start working on the music and trying to find a suitable place to film

order of events

i decided to write a brief order of what my trailer is going to include;

. Open on eerie music in a black out as light lifts up to see Jack rocking in his chair crying, then starts laughing. (this will be a creepy opening which will make the audience want to know whats happening and why he is like that)
. The next scene will be him with his friends having a laugh watching tele and then suggsts going to the park
. we see them walking to the park continuing to have a laugh and then they get to the park
. we then see his friends dead on the floor with him laughing hystericaly over them with blood on his hands
. There will be a clip at the funeral of his friends with him crying obiously not nowing how they died

i think this trailer will be effective and it will work well to get the point of schitzophrenia across

This trailer is effective because it is similar to the film i am doing a trailer on and it also shows quick camera shots which make the audience interested

Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia has many different side effects such as hallucinations and talking to yourself.

Alothough hardly any schizophrenia cases have resulted in death it has happend in the past,

It is very hard to cure and in some cases it cant be cured, it takes a lof of counciling and profesional help where people monitor your personalities and see how often your mood changes

This photo is a still image from the film "Hide and Seek" starring Robert De Nero as a schizophrenic who has the intention of murdering his daughter after killing his wife

Idea

I have decided to do a 3 minute trailer, a poster and a magazing 2 page spread for my final media piece. I had a few different ideas for my film tailer to be about. I had an idea of a schizophrenic man who kills friends of his and doesnt remember doing it until the end, i got this idea from a book that i read and i thought it could be made into an effective trailer with the right music and camera angles.

Book Synopsis

The Schizophrenic; This book is about a man who has been having problems in his life and starts to go crazy, he finds out one at a time that his friends are dying and becomes scared that he is the next one and that it s a pattern. He doesnt know that he is the one who is doing the killing and neither does the reader until the end. He ends up killing himself when he finds out what hes done.

Trailer idea

My idea is that the Schiophrenic will be played by jack Gamble as i do drama with him and know that he is capable of playing that kind of character. The Trailer will start with eerie music and start with a close up on his face as he starts to loose his mind. Writing will appear over the top of the screen telling parts of the story e.g "Friends Died Around Him" "He Thought He Was Next" i also want a show of him standing in the middle of his dead friends laughing and then a shot of him crying at their funeral.
